Objective: Record a two-day diet diary to:
calculate your total energy (Cal) intake and the proportion (%) of each macronutrient
perform a preliminary evaluation of your daily energy intake in comparison to the recommended value (ERR) .
analyze if the proportion of each macronutrient meets the recommended AMDR values
compare the results obtained in a weekday vs a weekend day.
Description of Assignment 1: You will record two days of your eating and drinking identifying the caloric value for each food and drink item you consume. If possible, select for analysis a typical weekday and a weekend day. Don’t select days in which you ate or drank very little because of being too busy, ill, etc. You will need to read the label in every food item you eat and list the grams of carbohydrates, grams of proteins and grams of fats. Then, convert the total grams of each nutrient into Calories, by using the energy content learned in class for each nutrient. All these information will be presented in tables. With the information in the tables you will make a critical analysis of your macronutrient intake, by answering the questions below.

Present two tables with recorded data and calculated values. (Explanation: The tables summarize the food and their content of carbohydrate, fats and proteins measured in grams. Get this information by reading the nutrition labels. After having this information, and using the information you received in the first class, you must calculate the total Cal obtained from each macronutrients, and the total Calories intake. This is a word document, and you can add more rows if required. Please notice that you must add the title, name, abstract and the answers to questions shown below.
2.- Data analysis
Analyze the data you obtained, by answering these questions using paragraphs written in essay format:
1.- (10 pts) My energy intake: Am I meeting my energy needs or is my intake lower or higher than needed?
Instructions to answer this question (do not include these instructions in the text of the assignment): In the lesson we learned about the ERR values. You will search this value in table in the ppt file. Cite your EER value, explain what does it mean (definition learned in class). Compare it to the total Cal intake in your daily analysis (tables 1 and 2). And explain if you eating an excess of Cal or are you below the expected number. Do you think this is ok, why or why not.
2) (10 pts) The proportion of macronutrients in my diet: Am I meeting the recommended proportions or macronutriemts (AMDR values) ?
Instructions to answer this question (do not include these instructions in the text of the assignment): In the lesson we learned about the AMDR values. for carbs, PRO and Lipids. What is the AMDR values (definition and ranges for each macronutrient). Explain if you are meeting the expected AMDR values or if the intake of one of these nutrients is too high or too low. Do you think this is ok, why or why not), Explain if according to your numbers you need to reduce or increase any of these nutrients to meet the recommended AMDR values.
3) (10 pts) Comment any difference in the analysis made in 1) and 2) between the weekend of week days. Explain if this was expected and why. Explain if you think you need to make any change in your diet.
