the differences between argument and problem/solution

by | Sep 6, 2021 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Use this Discussion Board to brainstorm and claim your topic for your intended Solution Essay. Read Virginia Kearney’s blog post about the differences between argument and problem/solution essays to help you generate ideas about a problem you’d like to address and propose solutions later this semester in an 8-9 page APA-formatted essay. You are not writing this essay this week; you are choosing the topic you’ll write about. Note–the blog breaks down writing a problem-solution essay, but your essay will be mostly about a solution.
Write your initial post as a freewrite, informal outline or brainstorm (suggested informal outline bulletpoints are below and may be copied). Your initial post should contain your topic, your proposed thesis (solution), and your argumentation style (Classical, Rogerian, Toulmin.)
The problem are you addressing:
Thesis (Proposed solution for the problem you are addressing):
First Premise for solution:
Second Premise for solution:
Third Premise for solution:
Your initial post answering the bullet points above should function as the first steps to writing a Solution Essay. The first, second, and third premise can either be three totally different solutions or three parts of one larger solution. This essay is for solutions, so most of your essay should argue to support solutions.
